"Karen Baumgart-Miller, one of the board members of the non-profit, said that long term-mentorship to these kids pays out big in the future.

“It's not as if a friend is going to come in for a year and then leave; this friend is with the kid from kindergarten through graduation of high school which is incredibly valuable. They’re a consistent positive influence in a kid’s life so they do everything, playing with them in the backyard, taking them to appointments, grabbing ice cream, celebratingthem and talking about hard things. It's really like having a consistent listening ear and support in your life,” explained Baumgart-Miller."
