Adam has a background in Creative Writing and Literature. He has been working in education since his time as a Graduate Assistant at Portland State University. He was born in Oregon and spent most of his life living in Portland. He spent 6 years working for the Cascade Pacific Council, the local Scouting organization, in various roles both at camp and in their outreach program. He was one of the first four students in the inaugural class of Portland State’s BFA in Creative Writing Program and later went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Literature with a focus on magical realism.
Before joining Friends of the Children, he worked as a professional tutor in Portland with Sylvan Learning for 3 years. Here is where Adam’s passion for helping children develop their social and emotional skills took root. He is on a mission to give growing boys the language they need to understand and navigate their emotional well-being.
Adam enjoys hiking, camping, creative writing, and playing Dungeons & Dragons with his friends. You can often find him reading a chapter from a good book somewhere along the trail of a beautiful hike.
